13 day Beijing, Xian, Shanghai Tour Package

Day 1: Thu - San Francisco - Shanghai
Today we leave for the Asian Adventure of a lifetime! We will first travel from San Francisco across the Pacific Ocean and over the International Date Line to Shanghai. (Onboard meals)

Day 2: Fri �Shanghai �Settle In
Shanghai is one of the most populated cities in China. It is considered the “Pearl of the Orient�for the large Western influence upon the city and brightly lit skyscrapers. Shanghai is the center for much of Asia’s commerce, banking, and technology. Our English speaking tour guide will meet us at the airport and take us to the hotel. This is a day to settle in and catch up on any sleep lost during the flight. A welcome dinner has been arranged at one of Shanghai’s most luxurious restaurants overlooking the scenic Bund in the evening. (Onboard meals, Dinner)

Day 3: Sat �Shanghai �Shanghai Museum �Yu Yuan Gardens
We will spend the morning at The Shanghai Museum at People’s Square, a place known for its vast array of art. After lunch, the afternoon will be spent at Yu Yuan Garden. The garden tour will be followed by free time for shopping in the adjoining market. Enjoy bargaining for souvenirs in Yu Yuan Market and sampling the snacks and candies. After dinner, we will attend a performance of the famous Chinese Acrobatic Show. Don’t forget your camera! (Breakfast)

Day 4: Sun �Shanghai �Hangzhou or Temple Trips
A Dream of Red Mansions and the Jade Buddha Temple. (Breakfast)

Take a side trip to Hangzhou. Hangzhou has been the inspiration for Chinese poets and philosophers for centuries. Enjoy the beautiful scenery at West Lake and have dinner overlooking the mist covered mountains. Relax. (Breakfast)

Day 5: Mon �Shanghai �Bund �Pudong �Oriental Pearl TV Tower
We will spend this day at the modernized section of Shanghai in Pudong. We will take a ferry ride around the Bund to enjoy the site of a Shanghai. This is a great opportunity for pictures of both Shanghai’s Bund and the Pudong skyline. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before heading to the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and the Jin Mao Building. Both buildings tower the city and will be a great place to enjoy overlooking Shanghai. Free time in the evening provides a great opportunity to do some night shopping at the famous Nanjing Road. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 6: Tue - Shanghai - Xi’an - Big Goose Pagoda �City Wall
We make our trip to Xian this morning, about 500 miles from Beijing, an ancient city once established as China’s capital and the starting point of the legendary Silk Road. Once in Xian, we will visit Big Goose Pagoda, built about 650 AD; and Xi’an City Wall, one of the most well preserved walls in the world. Enjoy a free evening to relax or shop. We will be escorted to our hotel and eat dinner together in the evening. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 7: Wed - Xi’an �Terra-Cotta Warriors �Banpo Museum
The Terra-Cotta Warriors is the highlight of Xian and a must see on a Chinese Tour. The Terra-Cotta Warriors are a large army of life-sized soldier, horse, and chariot statues discovered by accident in the 1970’s believed to be built by one of the first Emperors of China, Emperor Qin (This is where the name China is thought to come from). Considered one of the wonders of the world, having been buried and hidden from view for over 2000 years, this is a site that brings a wealth of emotions to the viewer. (Breakfast)

Day 8: Thu - Xi’an �Rest Day
This day is a day to recover from all the traveling we have done the past few days. Sleep in and relax. Optional tours and activities will be provided by our local guide. (Breakfast)

Day 9: Fri - Xi’an �Beijing - Summer Palace
Prepare for the flight to our final stop, Beijing, in the morning. Our hotel is located near a plethora of shops and restaurants. We will spend the afternoon at the beautiful Summer Palace, the largest imperial palace in the world built for the Emperor for pleasure and relaxation. Enjoy the evening off strolling the streets and exploring this historically important national capitol. (Breakfast)

Day 10: Sat - Beijing �Great Wall
You can’t go to China without seeing the Great Wall. There are several amazing views of the wall; today, we will visit it from the most tourist friendly viewpoint, Badaling. After lunch, we will visit the ancient Ming Tombs and Chang Ling Exhibition Hall. (Breakfast)

Day 11: Sun �Beijing �Free Day
A list of optional activities will be provided for us to choose from perhaps the Hutong Tour or shopping. There is much to see in Beijing which cannot be covered in this short trip. This is the day to pick and choose what would be most interesting to you. (Breakfast)

Day 12: Mon �Beijing �Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven
The Forbidden City, also know as the Imperial Palace was home to the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Come see where history has been made and made again in the heart of Chinese life and politics. Drink it in; this is our time to say good bye to this great country. A Farewell Dinner will be provided for the group. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 13: Tue - Beijing �San Francisco
We will prepare for our flight home this morning. We will board an afternoon flight, travel across the International Date Line again, and gain back the day lost traveling to China. We will arrive back in San Francisco on the same afternoon. This Asian Adventure is over but will not be forgotten. (Onboard meals)
